This glossary gives a brief explanation of many of the words and terms used throughout Saiki Kusuo no Ψ Nan.

Astral projection - is an out-of-body experience that separates the soul from the body.

Chuunibyou - a Japanese slang term which roughly translates to "Middle School 2nd Year Syndrome". A derogatory colloquial term in the Japanese language used to describe a person which manifests delusional behavior, particularly thinking that one has special powers that no other person has.

Clairvoyance - perceiving things or events in the future or beyond normal sensory contact.

Control device - relating to any device that can limit Kusuo's powers.

Curse - the ability to give misfortune to other people.

Dark Reunion - a fictitious dark organization created by Shun's delusional chuunibyou mind with the setting of a secret society of evil that envisions the selection of the human race.

Ace Detective Kouenji Tsukasa's Case Files - a book series that Kusuo used psychometry to meet Bungo Higashino and Shouko Murakami.

ESP - psychic ability

Fluoroscopy - the ability to see through physical objects at the discretion of the holder of this superpower. Also known as X-Ray Vision.

Fortune-telling - the practice of predicting information about a person's life. The scope of fortune-telling is in principle identical with the practice of divination.

G[]

Genius- a person who displays exceptional intellectual ability, creative productivity, universality in genres or originality, typically to a degree that is associated with the achievement of new advances in a domain of knowledge.

Gera - is the aura that seeps out of each person. This power is used by Kusuo and Mikoto. Mikoto uses this ability to determine the fortune and the potential of the person.

Ghost - the spirits of the dead that appear in the series contradict what is usually foretold about their fearsome nature, as they are actually kind spirits who don't have any memories of when they were alive.

Guardian spirit - spirits that were assigned as the helpers of people in the series from the moment of their rebirth.

Hydrokinesis - ability to freely use water or create water. Also the ability to create sweat on the body.

Hypnosis/-tism - the induction of a state of consciousness in which a person apparently loses the power of voluntary action and is highly responsive to suggestion or direction.

I[]

Invisibility - can render themselves unseen by the naked eye and become invisible with a flaw that if touched by others, the invisibility wears off and the exception of Reita who can see Kusuo.

K-watch - one of Dr. Kusuke's inventions. It has the feature of displaying a holographic image in the air.

Kokominzu - a cult behind the large fanclub of Kokomi Teruhashi. Its members are not limited to the PK Academy students but also of big time politicians and underground goons.

Levitation - the ability to fly/float.

M[]

Mind control - controlling the minds of others with targets being completely subject to their mental control. It also affects the world/s in the series.

Memory Manipulation - the ability to erase and/or add memory to others.

Nantedo DES - The video game console for Saitou Kunio no Kaidan video game, it is based on the Nintendo 3DS.

Offu (おっふ) - the expression/word that most people (majorly males) say whenever they meet or see Kokomi. Throughout the series Kokomi attempts to make Kusuo say it to her, which he eventually does without her knowing. The most common translation for it is "Oh(...)", "Wow", and in the Season 1 English dub, "Oh wow."

Petrification - the ability to turn people into stone (the author calls it Mineralization).

Play Stop Laser - the ability to stop/play a song in the karaoke.

Prediction- a statement about an uncertain event.

Psychic - relating to phenomena that are apparently inexplicable by natural laws, especially involving telepathy or clairvoyance.

Psychic Hold - the ability to throw an electric current to the opponent to bind him.

Psychokinesis - ability allowing a person to influence a physical system without physical interaction.

Psychometry - ability to obtain historical memories or sensations concerning beings and objects by touching it with bare hands.

Pyrokinesis - ability allowing a person to create and control fire with the mind.

Restore capability - the ability to rewind the time of matter

Size Augmentation - the power to shrink down one's body to small sizes.

Spirit world - the world or realm inhabited by spirits.

Summoning - the ability to use a spirit's skill and impersonate its abilities. A flaw to this ability is the number of spirits inside the body become obsessed with owning the body that they fight for it which would cause a series of unfortunate events (see Toritsuka Reita).

Saitou Kunio no Kaidan (Kunio Saitou's Horror Stories; English Dub: The Disastrous Life of Saito K.) - From Season 1, Episode 19, it is a video game based on a manga series that Kusuo likes. It is a reference to the series' own game, Saiki Kusuo no Psi-nan: Shijō Psi Dai no Psi Nan!?

Telepathy canceller - the device that Kusuke created to prevent Kusuo from reading his mind.

Telepathy - the transmission of information from one person to another without using any of our known sensory channels or physical interaction.

Teleportation - the transfer of matter or energy from one point to another without traversing the physical space between them.

Thoughtography - ability to "burn" images from one's mind onto surfaces such as photographic film by psychic means.

Transformation - the ability to freely change the body to other organisms. This body isn't limited to reality.

Time Leap - the power to escape the flow of time by jumping to either the past or future.

Time Machine - the device that can go to the past and the future. Kusuke created one time machine in the parallel world "Modified 2014" in order to revive Kusuo who at that time is dead.

Yare yare (やれやれ) : Is a Japanese interjection and mostly used by Kusuo as a catchphrase. The most common translations for it are "good grief" and "what a pain."
